Polonia Sings!
By Slominski, Stanislaus
Author [Polish songs in American Catholic Hymnbook]
This 28-page booklet is intended as an introduction to the American Catholic Hymnbook, a much larger collection. This book, Polonia Sings, provides the text, music, and chords for 13 songs extracted from the hymnbook, all reflecting the musical tradition of Poland. Although the words are in English, the melodies are all taken from the Polish tradition.
Publisher Comments
The Introduction in this book provides a succinct case for the use of Polish tunes in the liturgy, in the United States. These melodies are attractive, easy to sing, with a limited, practical range, with a clear and consistent accent pattern. People love these tunes and can readily learn the songs by heart, as is the custom in Poland. The American Catholic Hymnbook provides more hymns of this kind than any other English-language hymnal in the U.S.
