Sunday Morning [SATB]
By Handel, George
Author Downey, Mark [arrangement]
Author Fenton, Charles [text]
Sunday Morning may be used on any Sunday of the liturgical year. It is especially appropriate from Easter Sunday to Pentecost, in any part of the RCIA, at baptisms, confirmations, and First Holy Communions. The eschatological character of the hymn makes Sunday Morning also appropriate for the final Sundays of the liturgical year, including the Feast of Christ the King, as well as the Sundays of Advent. [To the same tune, He Is Coming is appropriate during this time, in the unison setting for the congregation, found in the American Catholic Hymnbook.
During Mass, Sunday Morning is useful as a processional, at the beginning of the celebration, as a hymn after Communion, and as a recessional. The wonderfully triumphal character of the tune and arrangement makes Sunday Morning a delight for any choir.
